General Assembly Meeting
This week we will not be meeting! WMU has closed all campuses due to inclement weather. Our social event will be held February 14th instead.
Dues
The deadline for dues is January 31st. Dues will be paid through PayPal. If you are unable to pay your dues, for whatever reason, please do not hesitate to reach out to an E-Board member or our Faculty Advisor, Dr. Cari Burke. The Beta Alpha Psi scholarship will also be due January 31st which covers all or part of dues for BAP Participants. Email the BAP Scholarship submissions to Dr. Cari Burke or Dawn Mason.
Please go to the Pay Dues page for more information about paying your semester dues. Scholarship Opportunties
Applications for scholarships available through both the Business College and the Accountancy Department are due on January 31st.
TRiO Presentations
The Diversity Committee has set up three time slots for us to speak to first generation students in the TRiO Program. The goal of these presentations is not to promote Beta specifically, but to speak about the benefit of joining an RSO in general. We need 2-3 people that are able to present in 10-minute slots at the beginning of these classes:
Pizza with Plante
Plante Moran will be in the Dean's Conference Room on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 from 12:15-1:30 p.m. This event is to inform students about Summer Leadership opportunities at Plante. While this event is not related to Beta, it is a great networking opportunity.

MAF Scholarship
If you are a full-time accounting student in your last year of school, you may be eligible to apply for the MAF Scholarship, which awards $5,000 to students in Michigan. This scholarship is due January 31st and does take some time to complete, including two letters of recommendation. You can view the scholarship website here.
Tutoring
All candidates are required to complete 2 hours of tutoring every week throughout the semester. Tutoring will be held from 5-7 P.M. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Schneider Hall room 1280.
Please note that you will need to make up tutoring hours from January 21st but you will NOT be expected to make up the time if you did not tutor during normal hours on Wednesday, January 23rd due to the campus closure. Dow Corporate Accounting Event
Dow Chemical has made it possible for 15 students to visit them in Midland, MI to learn about corporate accounting. The requirements are that your major is Accounting, Finance, or I/T with Accounting focus and that you have a 3.0 GPA. They prefer students that are classified freshman-junior. The event is Friday, March 22, 2019 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and transportation will be provided from Haworth College of Business.
More information is available here. Sign up to apply for this event here. *March 22 is also the date of the Mock Interviews that are required of Beta participants. This event, however, will take place of our event. This is not a make-up for any other missed event.* |
